With three competitive races, a non-competitive, untimed 5K fitness walk, and two options for virtual athletes, during a winter weekend in sunny Florida, we invite athletes of all abilities to join us in celebrating a healthy, active lifestyle.
We are thrilled to relaunch our
7th Annual Clearwater Marathon, previously the Florida Gulf Beaches Marathon, after a seven-year hiatus initially due to road construction on Gulf Boulevard. This will be the only marathon staged on Florida's west central coast this season and will use the same basic course as previous years. We are fine-tuning the course and it will be accurately measured, USATF certified, and a Boston Qualifier.
Our
Clearwater Halfathon and our
Clearwater 5-Miler challenges athletes with multiple bridge ascents, but also rewards them with spectacular views from each bridge's summit. Both courses are entirely within 1/4 mile of Clearwater Harbor and / or the Gulf of Mexico.
We are also staging our
4th Annual Clearwater 5K Fitness Walk, created for those folks who want to celebrate their healthy, active lifestyles while also encouraging those who made better health one of their New Year Resolutions. Our goal is to provide a circled date on everyone's new calendar to come together in the spirit of good health.
All these events start and finish at Coachman Park on Clearwater's waterfront, an easily accessible venue with ample, nearby parking – an ideal location to bask in the winter sun while celebrating your athletic achievement with friends, family, food, beverages and live entertainment.
For our out-of-town athletes, our award-winning, white-sand beaches provide the perfect setting to relax. Ideal average temperatures (50° - 71°) make this a perfect spot for a mid-winter vacation wrapped around a long-distance run or walk.
Finally, for athletes unable to join us on-site, we offer two virtual options: marathon or half marathon. In a nutshell, virtual athletes register to participate wherever they are located anywhere in the world, run their preferred distance during the allowed time-frame, report their finishing time, and later receive a finisher medal in the mail. Entry fees cover the cost of bibs, medals, and shipping, with the balance allocated to local non-profit organizations. Visit our
Marathon and Halfathon Virtual Runs page.
This was my first half-marathon and my Ironman cousin from Texas came out to run it with me! We had such a great time! I'm a short-distance triathlete, so I wanted a beautiful, well-organized first 13.1 and this was definitely that! Loved the scenic course (I used that to sell her on coming out here) as it constantly reminded me what I love about living in Florida! Bridges were challenging, but provided beauty and inspiration with the views! All in all, just a great day! Thanks again for the wonderful organization and communication from registration through post-race results! You guys are really a fabulous event group! We do triathlons throughout the year and have done many races – both my cousin and myself commented on how well this was organized and staffed! Thanks again.

The Clearwater 5-miler was in all honesty, one of the best races that I have ever participated in. The event itself was very well-organized, the turnout was amazing, and the course was beautiful. I loved running by the water. The announcer did a fabulous job cheering everyone on as they crossed the finish line. The food and beverages provided were greatly appreciated! Thank you for making this one of my best races ever. I will definitely be running in it again next year. Scratch that. I will be running the halfathon next year! :)
- Megan Infantino, Riverview, FL
Thank you for a fantastic race this morning! It was one of my favorite half marathons I have ever run. The only thing that could have made it better was to not have that head wind on mile 13 as I climbed the bridge! Thank you again for an incredible racing experience.
- Jacki Wachtel, New Port Richey, FL
Thank you again for a beautiful, well-run race!!!! The Clearwater 1/2 Marathon remains at the top of my list as Florida's number one 1/2 marathon! I'll be back again next year!!!
